FONAR SELLS 63RD STAND-UP MRI TO BE SHOWCASE SCANNER AT
NEW STATE-OF-THE-ART RADIOLOGY CENTER

3rd Purchase for Rose Radiology in Metro Tampa, Florida

          MELVILLE, NEW YORK, January 26, 2004 - FONAR Corporation (NASDAQ-FONR), The MRI Specialist™, announced today that Rose Radiology has purchased its third FONAR Stand-Up(TM) MRI for the metro- Tampa area, bringing FONAR's total number of Stand-Up™ MRI sales to 63. The Stand-Up™ MRI will be the centerpiece of Rose Radiology of Sarasota, a state-of-the-art radiology facility located in a new medical office park in Sarasota, Florida. The facility will include 16-slice CT, X-ray, mammography, PET, C-arm fluroscopy and ultrasound.
          Rose Radiology Centers is owned by Manuel S. Rose, M.D., a highly regarded, board-certified diagnostic radiologist in the Tampa area. Rose Radiology's first Stand-Up™ MRI, the first in Florida, is operating in Palm Harbor; the second is in nearby Brandon.
          Dr. Rose said, "The new Sarasota center will be the most advanced radiology center on the West Coast of Florida, with the Stand-Up™ MRI its most revolutionary component. I'm a strong advocate of the FONAR Stand-Up MRI because it's the only MRI scanner on the market that allows for the evaluation of the spine under normal, weight-bearing positions as well as in positions of flexion and extension. We have high-field recumbent MRIs, but when it comes to the spine, we rely heavily on the Stand-Up™ MRI. In fact, we've diagnosed spinal pathology on the Stand-Up™ MRI that was mis- characterized or missed entirely on conventional, recumbent MRIs.
